mile end station

petrol fumes cigarette smoke and urine
london-smell on warm wet air
riding gusts to mile end station
greet me leaving there

sweat slides viscous down my spine
sticking clothes to skin
particles from the central line
dissolve within

young adults in congregations
buying gin and wine
imams on their ministrations
me on mine
